A Friend For The Long Run

On your mark. Get set. Adopt!

The day before claiming a spectator spot on the Houston streets or running 26.2 yourself, attend A Friend for the Long Run, a Friends For Life dog adoption marathon.

With extended shelter hours, more than 70 dogs will be on site and looking for forever homes. Event-goers will begin at the “starting line,” making their way around the race course of dogs,  activities, and pet vendors including Sunset Blvd. Animal Clinic, Rover Oaks, Urban Tails and more! “Mile markers,” grouping the dogs in categories outside and in the shelter, will make finding the perfect pet or running buddy a breeze.

During the adoption race, carb-up with a bite from Good Dog Hot Dogs or boost your blood sugar at the What’s Up Cupcake truck with treats available for both you and your pup. If a lap cat is more your pace, all four Friends For Life cat rooms will be open. Hot 95.7 will provide tunes as you jam around the course. Volunteers and adoption counselors placed throughout the course are willing to go the extra mile in assisting you find the right pet for you.
